The Parental Leave (EU Directive) Regulations 2013 (SI 2013/283) have now been published. These regulations amend provisions relating to parental leave in both the Employment Rights Act 1996 and the Maternity and Parental Leave etc. Regulations 1999.
They implement Council Directive 2010/18/EU on the revised framework agreement on parental leave and, among other things, increase the maximum parental leave entitlement from 13 weeks to 18 weeks per child. They will come into force on 8 March 2013.
