Recruitment – The Apprentice Style
Viewers of The Apprentice may believe that the approach adopted by the interviewing panel is the correct one, however we would advise against this approach.
Whilst it was to be commended the way they had thoroughly checked out employment and references, some of the aggressive questioning styles would put employers at risk of tribunal claims if this approach was adopted.
The key thing to remember is how the candidate perceives they have been treated. As this is a TV show, I am sure the contestants were fully aware this was not a “real life” interview, and if they were subjected to this type of behaviour at an interview may wish to raise the matter further.
Although interview candidates are not employed by you, they are still covered by the discrimination laws. If you are in any doubt as to how to approach an interview, then please contact one of our Consultants.
